We Own Tonight allowed me to escape to my childhood fantasy of marrying a boy band member but also delivered the author's signature angst along with the emotion that we crave. Wait, she is writing just for me, right? That's how I imagine it. Michaels always delivers exactly what I need at the right time. Once I got past the initial fandom screeching, I had high expectations for Eli and wasn't sure if they could be met. I will admit that in the first part, while it was fun and entertaining, I was a bit weary on how this was going to go.

Most people my age chased around New Kids on the Block and for the past several years, they have been doing tours and our childhood/teenage inner selves came pushing back out and reverted us back to screaming, swooning and some might even cried. When we get the first part of the book and she's attending a concert of her favorite childhood boy band, who are now in their mid forties, I immediately got her. Heather's just happens to be a member of the boy band that she grew up obsessing about. Most of us women grew up with a childhood crush on some sort of celebrity. We Own Tonight is captivating, emotional and speaks to that little girl growing up.

Yet another book by Corinne Michaels that I absolutely devoured. I really hate it when authors portray characters, especially female characters, as if they are pathetic whiners instead of portraying them as strong, capable women. I could only read the book about 2/3 of the way through before I got so frustrated and couldn't read it anymore. I really, really despised Heather's character. I didn't blame everyone and everything else for the bad things that happened in my life. Believe me, I've lost loved ones, even very suddenly, and I was never that much of a b*tch to everyone around me. She claims that everything she did was for her sister, when, in fact, everything she did was for herself to make herself feel better instead of trying to have her sister's best interests truly in mind. Lastly, she was pretty selfish and self-centered. She was also a whiner who complained about everything in her life that sucked-and complained about it ALL THE TIME. For example, she claims that she didn't judge others when that's practically all she ever did. I liked parts of the book, and I really liked Eli's character a lot.
